Job Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor manages the full commercial and contractual functions on civil construction projects (structures and infrastructure roads), ensuring the effective and efficient cost management, accurate reporting, and contractual compliance to optimise project profitability. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in civil engineering and commercial acumen. Qualification, Experience and Requirements Relevant Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying Minimum of 10 years on-site experience in Quantity Surveying in Civil Engineering (roads, bridges, structures) Valid, unendorsed drivers licence with own vehicle Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficient in contract administration under FIDIC, NEC, and GCC forms. Experienced in COLTO Specification and understanding both principal and subcontractor agreements, including clauses, guarantees, BoQs, drawings, and payment terms. Strong commercial and contractual acumen with experience in construction sequencing, methodologies, progress tracking, and variation validation. In-depth understanding of Civil Engineering principles and practices including reinforced concrete works, earthworks and layer works, bitumen and asphalt, stormwater, and construction materials and processes. Skilled in interpreting engineering and architectural drawings and measuring according to standard systems. Competent in construction programme interpretation and project planning. Technically proficient in CCS Candy, MS Excel, and AutoCAD (advantageous). Strong analytical, mathematical, and financial awareness, with sound judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, and reasoning skills (verbal and numerical). Effective communicator with excellent oral and written English, including negotiation, contractual letter writing, and interpersonal communication. Detail-oriented with strong checking skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experienced in personnel managementmotivating, directing, monitoring performance, and developing team members. Familiar with company policies and procedures and has a basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and safe work practices. Roles and Responsibilities Prepare and manage detailed project budgets and cost forecasts. Measure and value work done on-site (including progress valuations and final accounts). Administer main contract and subcontracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Manage variation orders, claims, and disputes. Oversee procurement of materials and subcontractor services. Coordinate with engineers and site teams to verify physical progress and variation scope. Conduct site visits to validate work done against bill of quantities. Assist in tender evaluations and subcontractor selection. Provide commercial input to project planning and execution strategies. Support financial close-out processes and handover documentation. Remuneration - Salary: Negotiable, based on experience and in line with the organisations requirements. Location: Project-based; the successful candidate must be willing to travel. Preference: Will be given to Designated Group Candidates.
