Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Freelance Tunnel / Project Engineer to join a large-scale infrastructure project in Italy. This is an immediate start opportunity for a professional with a strong background in tunnel and underground construction works. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of critical tunnel components. About the Role Key responsibilities include: Oversee and manage drainage works within the tunnel. Supervise concrete lining operations , ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Produce, update, and maintain AutoCAD-based drawings and technical documentation. Coordinate closely with site teams, contractors, and design engineers to ensure smooth project execution. Monitor project progress and report on key milestones, risks, and issues . Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site. Requirements We require: Proven experience in tunnel or civil engineering projects , preferably in large-scale infrastructure works. Strong AutoCAD skills and experience producing detailed technical drawings. Fluent in Italian , both spoken and written, to facilitate site coordination and documentation. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). Familiarity with tunneling methods such as TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) or NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method).
