Join UL Solutions as a Data Engineer . The Data Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing the data maturity of the lab organization at UL Solutions. As part of a multidisciplinary team of software developers, data scientists, and architects, the candidate will contribute to the development of robust data solutions tailored to the lab’s needs. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in building ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing, with experience integrating data from diverse sources such as legacy databases and unstructured documents using popular open-source tools. In this role, you will work closely with product teams, technology stakeholders, and management to design, validate, and enhance the capabilities of our data platform. Success in this position requires a proactive mindset, innovative problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in data processing and orchestration. We value in-person collaboration and encourage regular presence in the office (Carugate, Italy) to foster close cooperation with the team. Responsibilities Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of software developers, data scientists, and architects to develop innovative data solutions for the lab. Demonstrate a strong track record in building ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing, integrating data from diverse sources including legacy databases and unstructured documents. Own and maintain end-to-end data pipeline frameworks for ingesting and exporting data, enabling the creation of high-value data products. Partner with operations, product, and engineering teams to promote best practices and deliver tailored data solutions across various business needs. Contribute to the design and strategic roadmap for advancing UL’s data maturity and infrastructure. Qualifications Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field 3 years of experience with common data engineering tools (e.g., Airflow, Spark, Snowflake) 3 years of experience building ETL/ELT pipelines 3 years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL Proven experience supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams Nice-to-Haves: Experience with Azure or AWS, containerization, and related tooling Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI Proficiency in Linux environments Experience with Git/GitHub for version control What you’ll experience working at UL: Mission: For UL, corporate and social responsibility isn’t new.
