Join to apply for the Advanced Mechanics & Materials Engineer role at RINA Overview RINA is recruiting for an Advanced Mechanics & Materials Engineer to join its office in Rome within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division. The mission is to contribute to our capacity to meet technical challenges posed by the energy transition towards a sustainable economy. The role requires proficiency in fracture mechanics, fatigue, and/or large strain material behaviour, with an interest in metallurgy and corrosion. The position offers opportunities to drive technological advancements that support the energy transition and professional development. Responsibilities Review and appraise technical documentation relevant to critical assets, including mechanical design standards, material specifications, and testing protocols for hydrogen service compatibility. Develop and execute technical strategies aligned with project goals and ensure coherent deliverables. Conduct structural analyses along with fracture mechanics and fatigue assessments to ensure safety and performance standards are met. Coordinate microstructural analysis and fractographic examinations to investigate material failures and enhance performance. Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure cohesive integration across disciplines. Oversee laboratory testing activities with laboratory engineers to guarantee high-quality outcomes and adherence to standards. Prepare detailed technical reports and engage in technical dialogues with clients to foster strong partnerships. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (General) Qualifications Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred; a PhD in applied mechanics, fracture mechanics, or fatigue is advantageous. 2-3 years of practical experience in a relevant role. Proficiency in CAD and FEM tools is desirable. Understanding of metallurgy and material science principles. Strong teamwork, communication, attention to detail, and ability to produce accurate reports under tight deadlines. Fluency in English is essential for communication with international teams.
