Optometrist Assistant

Job Title: Optometrist Assistant Location: Natal, Durban, Overport Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours Primary Industry: Health, Medical and related Job Duties: Assist the Optometrist in conducting eye examinations and vision tests Provide support in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses Maintain and clean optical equipment and instruments Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records Assist in educating patients on proper eye care and maintenance Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a certified Optometry Assistant training programme Education: Certified Optometry Assistant training programme Experience: Prior experience working in an optometry clinic or similar setting is preferred Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of basic optometry procedures and equipment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately Proficient in basic computer skills for maintaining patient records Preferred Qualifications: Additional certification in Optometry Assistance Experience with electronic health record systems Working Conditions: Work in a clinical environment assisting Optometrists Regularly interact with patients to provide support and guidance May involve standing for long periods and occasional lifting of optical equipment Adherence to strict hygiene and safety protocols
