Refrigeration Technician

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join the hotels engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will install, maintain, and repair refrigeration and cooling systems throughout the hotel, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations. Critical Criteria (Requirements) Trade qualification or certification in Refrigeration, HVAC, or Mechanical Engineering Proven experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration systems Knowledge of refrigerants, compressors, and cooling technology Minimum 24 years experience as a Refrigeration Technician, preferably in hotels, industrial, or commercial environments Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship Ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines Team player with strong communication skills Must hold a valid South African ID Key Competencies 🔹 Technical Expertise Skilled in installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration and cooling systems 🔹 Quality & Standards Focus Ensures all systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably 🔹 Health & Safety Compliance Adheres to occupational health and safety regulations; uses PPE; handles refrigerants safely 🔹 Problem Solving & Diagnostics Quickly identifies and resolves technical faults 🔹 Team Collaboration Works effectively with the engineering and maintenance team to support hotel operations Duties & Responsibilities Install, commission, and maintain refrigeration and cooling equipment, including chillers, cold rooms, and ice machines Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections of refrigeration systems Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration systems and associated components Test and monitor equipment performance to ensure operational efficiency Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations regarding refrigerants and chemicals Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance team for emergency breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel services Live and promote the hotels values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with relevant refrigeration experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companys Employment Equity Plan About the President Hotel The President Hotel is on a journey to be considered a true luxury destination.
