Director of Data Engineering

My client is looking for Director of Data Engineering to join their team in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban (Hybrid with local and international travel required) Requirements: · Degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred. · 8 years experience in Data Engineering or Data Integration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. · Proven experience designing and leading complex data architectures and pipelines across industries. · Deep understanding of modern data platforms including: · Qlik Data Integration (Qlik Replicate, Compose, Enterprise Manager) · Qlik Talend (Data Integration, Data Quality, ESB) · Microsoft (Azure Synapse, Data Factory, SQL, Power Platform, Fabric) · Experience in pre-sales, solutioning, and commercial scoping of data projects. · Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and metadata management best practices. · Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. · Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. · Strategic thinker with hands-on, solutions-oriented leadership style. · Must be willing to travel locally and internationally. · Permanent, long-term commitment required no freelancers or contractors.
