Maintenance Technician

Critical Criteria (Requirements) Matric certificate (Grade 12); trade test or technical qualification advantageous Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in hotel or commercial property maintenance Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general repair work Experience with HVAC, kitchen equipment, pool systems, and fire & safety equipment beneficial Ability to troubleshoot and carry out preventive and reactive maintenance Physically fit, reliable, and safety-conscious Professional, guest-centric approach with strong problem-solving skills Must hold a valid South African ID Key Competencies 🔹 Technical Expertise Skilled in fault finding, repair, and preventive maintenance 🔹 Attention to Detail Ensures safety, compliance, and operational efficiency 🔹 Guest-Focused Approach Maintains a professional and approachable manner when assisting guests or departments 🔹 Adaptability & Initiative Ability to prioritise urgent issues in a fast-paced environment 🔹 Teamwork & Communication Works collaboratively with colleagues and departments to ensure smooth operations Duties & Responsibilities Perform daily maintenance checks and address reported faults promptly Conduct preventive maintenance across all hotel facilities and equipment Respond to guest room maintenance requests with professionalism and urgency Support smooth operation of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and pool systems Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and emergency standards Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts in good order Assist with set-up and technical support for conferences and events Report and record all work carried out in the maintenance logbook/system Work closely with housekeeping and front office to ensure guest satisfaction Provide after-hours support on a rotational standby basis Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with proven hotel or commercial maintenance experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companys Employment Equity Plan About the President Hotel The President Hotel is on a journey to be considered a true luxury destination.
