Specialist Electrical Engineer (electrical and instrumentation) (mining)

Job Description

Required: 6-8 years of relevant mining or heavy industry construction experience. Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, protocols, and standards. Strong Knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage distribution systems and operating principles. Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems used in mining settings, automation principles and industrial process control. Experienced in implementing safety instrumented systems (SIS) and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) assessments, instrument calibration techniques, and procedures. Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, industry regulations, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of energy-efficient practices, sustainability initiatives, and environmental considerations in electrical and instrumentation engineering. Understand communication protocols used in industrial networks, such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP, as well as cybersecurity principles and measures related to industrial control systems. Technical Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues Proficiency in analysing data related to electrical and instrumentation systems. Ability to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems effectively. Ability to generate meaningful reports for management and stakeholders. Understanding of project capital estimating methodologies and systems. Cost control and forecasting techniques. Mining Operations from a technical perspective. Knowledge of heavy industry maintenance and operations experience. Multi-disciplinary engineering experience / multifunctional.
