Job Description
The Workshop Foreman will be responsible for supervising all workshop activities, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with extensive experience in diesel engines, truck diagnostics, and team management. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, and to standards. Lead and supervise a team of Diesel Mechanics, Apprentices, and support staff. Allocate jobs, monitor workflow, and ensure the effective use of labor and resources. Carry out diagnostics, inspections, and complex repairs on trucks and diesel engines. Liaise with Fleet Managers and operations teams to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime. Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Train and mentor workshop staff to ensure skill development and adherence to best practices. Manage workshop tools, equipment, and parts inventory. Requirements: Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (Red Seal or equivalent preferred). 5 years of hands-on experience in truck and diesel engine maintenance. Previous experience in a supervisory or Foreman role is essential. Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, including familiarity with electronic control systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. A valid drivers license (heavy vehicle license an advantage). Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
