Job Description

Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist Profession: Radiology Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8am-4pm Monday-Friday Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Interventional Neuro Radiology required License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in one of the following: - Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) - Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) Certifications: Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS) Must-Have: Experience with Philips and Siemens equipment Description: Under the direction of a Radiologist, the technologist specializes in the performance of invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. The technologist explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients. Reviews clinical data on requisitions, analyzes the anatomical structure of patients, sets up equipment, and assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure. Ensures that adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Actively assesses patient conditions before, during, and following all procedures. Manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new personnel and/or students assigned to the division. Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating principles of radiation protection, which may involve shielding of patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing of images and confirming image/series counts. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System, including study begin, study end, and completion of the study. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies. Demonstrates Team Member Standards of Excellence, including communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, and respecting diversity. Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate and documents in the medical record and radiology information system to support all clinical and billing functions. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
