Job Description Job Description Job Summary: This position is responsible for patient movement coordination. This includes communicating with the patient via telephone and in person, rooming and obtaining information from the patients, and providing direct assistance to physicians. The position will act as an ambassador on behalf of the company with customers, clients, and vendors in public. Sensitive to cultural differences, and values diversity Adaptable – Highly adaptable, embraces changes in the work environment Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to): Primary support between physicians, staff, and leadership Prioritize clinic workflow and patient flow, as well as monitor physician schedules for efficiency Oversight and complete chart preparation daily for clinical days to guarantee efficiencies. Obtain history and chief complaints from patients and document in EMR system Provide direct assistance to treating provider and physician assistants, in and out of exam rooms Print or electronically file prescriptions requests based on physician orders and protocols Document and/or create physician orders for surgical procedures, out-patient testing procedures, or any other services recommended during treatment discussion Consent patient for surgical procedures according to physician and facility protocols Complete screening questionnaires for diagnostic testing and surgical procedures to ensure patient safety Apply and/or remove casts, splints, and DME supplies, ensure proper billing documentation is accurately completed for reimbursement success Provide patient education for post op instructions and/or suture removal based on physician protocols Ensure sterilization of equipment and instruments after use are completed daily prior to the start of the next clinic Perform x-ray images on patient based on physician protocols, if applicable Follow up on ensuring referral and/or outpatient request are completed timely Complete and resolve questions from patients, co-workers, and physicians. Ensure all pertinent information is documented in EMR system Clean/Stock patient exam rooms before and/or after use Transcription duties as directed by physician Review and complete necessary form requests from patients, including, but not limited to FMLA, disability, work restrictions, etc Assist Prior Authorization department with diagnosis and treatment questions to guarantee insurance approval for recommended treatment options including, but not limited to injectable medication, outpatient procedures, surgical procedures, and/or DME orders Assist with in office procedures for room set up/tear down, equipment sterilization, and physician needs to ensure patient safety and quality of care Occasional availability to physician(s) outside of normal business hours Regular in office attendance is required Other duties as assigned Skills and/or Qualifications (not limited to): Type 30-40 wpm Knowledge of electronic medical records Fluency in medical terminology, orthopaedic preferred Minimal ICD-10 and CPT coding, orthopaedic preferred Strong customer service, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions Knowledgeable of HIPAA guidelines and regulations Physical Requirements: Bending/twisting/lifting Ability to lift and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds Keen sense of eyesight and hearing Ability to stand or sit for an extended period Ability to lift, grip, carry, touch, speak, and listen Education and/or Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older Required High School diploma or GED Must obtain and maintain professional certification Active certification and/or license: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Radiologic Technologist Registered RT(R), Certified Medical Assistant, Athletic Trainer Certified, Kinesiology Certified Mandatory reporting in both children and adult Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification 1-4 years of experience in high-volume interactive clinic or hospital
