Job Description Job Description DESCRIPTION: Medical Assistant/Front Desk Medical Assistant Responsibilities : · Verifies patient information by triaging patient; recording medical history; confirming chief complaint. · Prepares patients for examination by performing initial triage: blood pressure, weight, and temperature and reporting patient history summary. · Maximize physician time by assisting with office procedures. · Cleaning of rooms after each patient encounter · Serves and protects practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. · Check PDMP and notify provider of any inconsistencies. Medical Receptionist Responsibilities: · Greets patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner. · Collection and verification of patient demographic information. · Insurance verification · Check in/ Check out of patients. · Oversees scheduling to maintain efficient patient flow. · Monitors physician block time and makes recommendations for effective utilization. · Responsible for ensuring that Pharmaceutical/Equipment Representatives have appropriate badges and do not interfere with patient care or confidentiality. · Responsible for patient reception area, i.e., orderly, organized and cleanliness, etc. Communication · Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers. · Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Knowledge of procedure authorization and its direct impact on the practice’s revenue cycle · Understanding of payer medical policy guidelines while utilizing these guidelines to manage authorizations effectively. · Basic understanding of human anatomy, specifically musculoskeletal · Proficient use of CPT and ICD-10 codes · Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, and Internet use. · Detail oriented with above average organizational skills. · Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines. · Excellent customer service skills; communicates clearly and effectively. · Ability to multitask and work with little supervision while managing a high-volume, time-sensitive workload. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED · High School Diploma · 2 years medical office experience required.
