TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Cornelius, North Carolina, 28031! Pay Information $1,913 per week About The Position Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months in MedSurg/Telemetry License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong experience preferred, but first-time travelers may be accepted with relevant experience Description: The position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry. The facility has 33 beds and does not have a trauma designation or teaching status. Patient types include various adult Med/Tele diagnoses. Common conditions managed are COPD, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled diabetes, respiratory illnesses, GI infections, and behavioral health issues. Patient ratios are 1:4-5 for Telemetry and 1:5-6 for MedSurg, depending on acuity. During surge staffing, ratios may increase up to 1:7-8. CNA support is provided at a ratio of 1:10. Skills required include tracheostomy care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, wound care, and feeding tube management. Common medications administered include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Octreotide. CNA responsibilities include taking vital signs, performing Accuchecks, assisting with feedings, and providing activities of daily living support. A secretary will answer phone calls and call bells. Charge nurses will be free-floating. Phlebotomy support is not provided, but an IV/VAT team is available during the day shift. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, as well as hospitalist services and telemetry monitoring. The unit utilizes an EMR system and specific equipment for patient monitoring. Floating is required within regional facilities as needed, consistent with the scope of practice. Travelers will be paid for travel time between facilities if floating occurs mid-shift. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and will have a weekend rotation of every other weekend. Requests for time off (RTO) can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Schedules are cycled every 6 weeks.
