Manufacturing Production Manager - Wood Coatings

Job Description Job Description Description: Position Summary The Manufacturing Production Manager oversees daily production operations of the spray finishing department to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and to quality standards. This role is responsible for leading and developing production teams, optimizing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to achieve operational goals. Essential Functions · Plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing process to meet production targets and customer demand. · Oversee production staff, including setting performance expectations, coaching, and conducting evaluations. · Monitor production metrics (output, efficiency, scrap, downtime) and implement improvements where needed. · Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. · Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production challenges. · Manage workforce scheduling, resource allocation, and labor efficiency. · Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma). · Control costs, reduce waste, and optimize use of labor, materials and equipment · Maintain accurate production reports and records. Analyze data for maximum optimization. · Support new product launches and process changes. Decide how best to use a plant’s workers and equipment to meet production goals · Ensure that production stays on schedule and within budget · Communicate with sales staff, customers, and suppliers as needed · Assist with hiring, oversee departmental training and evaluate workers · Streamline the production process · Assess production needs, such as for equipment upgrades or overtime work. · Lead staff in problem resolution and process improvements Requirements: Qualifications : · Technical Degree, Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field or equivalent experience. · 5 years of experience in manufacturing leadership, with at least 2 years in a managerial/supervisory role. · Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process improvement, and production planning. · Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. · Proficiency in MRP systems and MS Office Suite. · Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. · Commitment to workplace safety and product quality. · Knowledge of industrial wood spray coatings helpful but not required.
