Business Intelligence Engineer

Our client, a highly acquisitive business in the Energy sector, is looking to recruit a BI engineer to join its growing business intelligence function. This role will focus on capturing and effectively using all historical and current data from the various business units. ‍ This role would suit a candidate who holds a relevant degree with at least a year's practical experience using Power BI. ‍ Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to support decision-making across the organisation. Gather, analyse, and document reporting requirements in collaboration with business stakeholders. Optimise existing Power BI solutions for performance, scalability, and usability. Maintain data models, relationships, and calculations (using DAX and Power Query) to ensure accurate reporting. Ensure data quality, integrity, and security within BI solutions. Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to source, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems. Provide technical support and training to end-users to maximise the adoption and effective use of BI tools. Keep up to date with Power BI updates, best practices, and emerging BI technologies. Skills & Experience Proven experience in developing and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards. Strong understanding of data modelling, DAX, and Power Query (M). Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries (desirable). Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. Ability to translate complex data into clear, meaningful visual insights. Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
