Job Description

SOC Engineer - SC Cleared - Inside IR35 Remote First - Once a month into London £450 - £500 p/d SR2 are working with a leading government department to augment their SOC capability. They are looking to bring in a SOC Engineer who will contribute to the delivery of SOC Capability Programme. The role involves uplifting, optimising, and expanding the Security Operations Centre’s capabilities and services to better detect and respond to cyber security events. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert in cyber security, contributing to both strategic and tactical SOC engineering initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test new and enhanced security detection use cases aligned with threat intelligence and business risk. Build and extend SOC engineering services to support improved threat identification and investigation. Test, tune, and optimise new and existing SIEM/SOAR analytics and detection rules. Automate security processes and response tasks to improve incident triage and resolution efficiency. Support the integration and orchestration of disparate security tools within the SOC environment. Uplift and streamline existing SOC processes, tools, and workflows, ensuring alignment with best practice and governance. Implement health check frameworks and KPIs to monitor and improve the security posture of SOC operations. Ensure alignment between SOC capabilities and the broader National Highways security framework, including Personnel and Physical Security. Transition all engineered solutions and capabilities into BAU operations within the NH SOC Team, including appropriate documentation and knowledge transfer
