Senior Childcare Lawyer

Senior Childcare Solicitor Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE Contract Length: 3-6-month initial contract Northwest Local Authority Flexible Hybrid Working We are seeking an experienced Childcare Solicitor to join a well-respected Children and Families Legal Team in the northwest region. You will work on high-value, sensitive cases in public and private children law, supporting safeguarding and planning for children. The role requires excellent advocacy skills, a strong understanding of local government responsibilities, and the ability to provide clear, strategic advice in a politically sensitive environment. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of complex children and families' legal matters with minimal supervision. Undertake advocacy in contested proceedings to achieve the best outcomes for clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a role model within the service. Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of Legal Services. Key Requirements Qualification as a practising solicitor, barrister, or Fellow of CILEX (with Advocacy Certificate). Extensive recent experience in complex and sensitive children and families law matters. Strong advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills. Ability to communicate complex legal advice clearly to diverse audiences. Political sensitivity when advising on safeguarding and related legislation.
