Engineer Welding

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure quality of metal repair work of the plant by ensuring compliance with all standards. Executing metal repair across the acid division. Carrying out technical analysis, quality checks of all the metal repair work. To coordinate all activities, projects and developments related to plant improvement and optimization. QUALIFICATION(S) & EXPERIENCE Qualification(s) Minimum: A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 5 Years relevant hands-on metal repair work maintenance related experience in chemical or Manufacturing plant environment Should have experience with different inspection methods for welds such as visual, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic inspection, x-ray inspection etc. Experience in the structural fabrication environment including tanks and pipe works Experience with planning, cost estimation and budgeting exposure Competent in using Microsoft office (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, Power point, Outlook). Key Competencies: Understanding of Welding Processes: Welding quality management system ISO 3834 A comprehensive understanding of different welding techniques, including arc welding, gas welding, and resistance welding, is essential. Knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., ASME IX, AWS, ISO 15614) is critical for ensuring quality and compliance. Procedure Qualification (WPS/PQR): The ability to develop, qualify, and interpret welding procedures is a core competency. Interpretation of Drawings and Symbols Ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols accurately. Quality Control and Inspection A strong understanding of quality control processes and non-destructive testing methods Ideal Requirements: Qualifications: (Same as minimum plus the following) Post Graduate qualification / Management Development Program Certifications from organizations like the SAIW, CSWIP, IWE, and IIW Specialized Welding Courses : SAIW and other training courses on welding processes, codes, and standards.
