Job Description
Role: Receptionist / General Assistant Location: Stanford, Overberg, Western Cape Salary: To be discussed Working hours: Working hours: The practice currently operates with two shifts: Morning shift: 08h0013h00 Afternoon shift: 12h0017h00 While your primary shift will be agreed upon, you may occasionally be required to assist with the alternate shift to cover leave or staff changes. In addition, you will be rostered for every second or third Saturday from 08h0011h00 . Responsibilities include: Welcoming clients, answering phones, WhatsApps and emails, booking and confirming appointments, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records. Handling stock: daily checks, placing orders, receiving deliveries, capturing invoices, and participating in stock takes. Keeping reception and public areas clean and tidy. Assisting with patient care where required, such as cleaning cages, feeding or walking patients, helping during procedures, and cleaning equipment afterward. The ideal candidate: Physically fit (able to carry pet food bags or assist with large dogs). Emotionally resilient, able to work calmly and professionally with clients in stressful situations. Comfortable in a practical environment where animals may shed, jump, or make a mess. At least partially bilingual (Afrikaans and English). Computer literate; prior experience in reception, animal care, or using veterinary software will be an advantage. Willing to learn more about veterinary products and services (training provided). Important to know: This is a rewarding but demanding position. The veterinary team works in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment, and high standards are expected.
