The Substance Use Disorder Counselor provides direct counseling services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The counselor will conduct assessments, provide case management services and deliver evidence-based interventions in both individual and group settings. This role is essential in supporting clients through recovery and in helping them build the skills necessary for long-term sobriety. The counselor will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic, client-centered care and ensure that clients have access to comprehensive support services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of all ages and social and ethnic backgrounds, including patients, medical staff, co-workers and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

 Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance abuse counseling, preferably in a community clinic or similar setting.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development. Strong knowledge of substance use disorder treatment models and interventions, including motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and documentation.
  • The counselor may occasionally be required to work outside of regular clinic hours to meet client needs

 Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, or Registered as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDRC, SUDCC, CAODC, etc.) or other relevant certification as required by the state

The pay range for this role is $25.41 - $35.57 on an hourly basis.
