Fountain Street Church seeks a part-time Business Director to join our professional staff. The ideal candidate will possess not only good bookkeeping skills and a comprehensive understanding of GAAP, but also be able to work collaboratively with other professional staff and volunteers. The candidate must be able to articulate and support Fountain Street Church’s progressive identity and affirming stance toward all people, regardless of their background. For more information about Fountain Street Church, please visit www.fountainstreet.org The Senior Minister supervises the Finance Director in the performance of their duties at Fountain Street Church . The role involves oversight of the church’s payroll and AP/AR systems, as well as managing the church’s accounting through QBO. The Finance Director provides monthly financial reports to the committees of the church. The Finance Director will be expected to support the ministries and ministers of the Church in a spirit of teamwork and offer their time, skills, and gifts as they apply to the ongoing welfare, ministry, and edification of the Church. The Finance Director is a part-time position that works 20 hours per week and is classified as a non-exempt position. Hours may be flexible. This position does not qualify for the ministerial exception. This position is may involved deployed work with on-site participation in two monthly staff meetings and on-site access to physical files and other materials as needed. Practices a philosophy of following pastoral leadership Demonstrates a desire and ability to help make other staff successful Relates well to others on a professional and personal level Maintains the highest level of confidentiality - Accounting degree, CPA preferred, or demonstrated knowledge with professional experience in the field. - Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and business operations. - Experience in non-profit or faith community setting preferred, with a knowledge of non-profit/religious institution tax law. - Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities. - Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities. - Proficiency or willingness to learn the current software suite. As this position is expected to be primarily deployed, this is critically important. Current church software in use includes Planning Center suite (PC Giving), QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Gusto, and GCP (Google Cloud platform) - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team setting. - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education. Demonstrates an attitude of professional excellence in working with church members and staff Fosters a work environment consistent with the Church’s culture Participates in staff meetings (currently every other week) Performs other duties as assigned by the SM or church treasurer . - Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll via Gusto.com payroll system - Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. - Manage Accounts Payable, P/L, Billing, and Income via Bill.com system - Provide Monthly and Annual Financial Reports (P&L to relevant staff and committees via QBO - In conjunction with the Treasurer and others, help develop the proposed Annual Budget. - Work collaboratively with the FSC Foundation Board and the Finance Committee. - In conjunction with the Governing Board, facilitate financial reviews and/or audits conducted by church committees or outside firms. - Manage staff expenses over pre-approved amounts. - Consistently demonstrates a commitment to the culture, values, and mission of Fountain Street Church. Salary and Benefits - For PT: $32,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year depending on qualifications, experience, and tenure with the Church Hours - approximately 20/week This position is eligible for fringe benefits as described in the Employee Handbook.
