Freelance Site Engineer – Civils & Groundworks (Data Centre Project) Location: Newport, South Wales Contract: Freelance – Outside IR35 Duration: Until February 2026 Day Rate: £(Competitive – DOE) About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a civils sub-contractor delivering the groundworks package on a high-spec data centre build in Newport. You’ll be working on a fast-paced, technically demanding project with a strong emphasis on quality, accuracy, and safety. Key Responsibilities • Setting out for all civils and groundworks activities, • Scope: drainage, foundations, service trenches, concrete slabs, and external works. • Interpreting and working from drawings, CAD models, and project specifications. • Liaising with site management, subcontractors, and the client. • Carrying out QA checks, maintaining records, and compiling as-built information. • Ensuring all works comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements. Requirements • Proven track record as a Site Engineer within civils/groundworks projects • Experience on large-scale industrial or infrastructure builds. • Up-to-date CSCS card (Engineer/Managers level). • SMSTS or SSSTS and First Aid (desirable). • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
