Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Health & Safety Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training in line with legal and company requirements. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations. Foster a safety-first culture throughout the organization, ensuring continuous improvement in workplace safety practices. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety laws. Quality Assurance Oversee all aspects of product quality, including inspection, testing, and compliance to internal and external standards. Drive the implementation of ISO and/or other relevant quality management systems. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for product non-conformances or process failures. Monitor production processes and implement improvements to reduce variation and waste. Continuous Improvement Champion Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma initiatives to improve operational efficiency and product quality. Lead Kaizen events, 5S programs, and value stream mapping. Analyze data to identify trends and recommend strategies for improvement in both safety and quality. Leadership & Management Lead and mentor a team of safety and quality professionals. Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and HR departments to support overall operational goals. Provide training and support to staff at all levels to ensure awareness and compliance with safety and quality standards. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering , or a related Engineering discipline (required) or a BCom Degree. This position is open to all South Africans. Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment , with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role (required). Certification or formal training in Lean Manufacturing , Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred). Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, ISO standards). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficient in MS Office, quality management software, and safety tracking systems. Preferred Attributes: Experience in the packaging , industrial , or process manufacturing industries. Strong leadership and team development skills. Hands-on experience with data-driven decision making and KPI tracking. Familiarity with environmental compliance and sustainability practices is a plus.
