Duty Solicitor – Crime Team Location: Barnet & St Albans Salary: £37,000 – £47,000 (DOE) We are representing a highly respected, multi-service law firm recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK. With an established reputation for excellence across criminal defence, family law, housing, civil liberties, and human rights, this award-winning firm is now looking to expand its Crime Team with experienced Duty Solicitors . This is a full-time, permanent role based in Barnet and St Albans, offering the opportunity to join a dynamic, growing team and develop your career within a supportive and professional environment. Key Responsibilities: Representing clients detained at police stations Managing a caseload of criminal defence cases across a broad range of offences Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court (and Crown Court if Higher Rights are held) About You: Qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year’s PQE in criminal matters Crime Duty Accreditation is preferred (or willingness to obtain it) Strong communication and advocacy skills Confident in managing a demanding caseload with minimal supervision Proficient in IT and case management systems Professional, pragmatic, and positive approach to work Genuine passion for publicly funded legal work Strong attention to detail, excellent client care, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Able to remain calm and effective under pressure and deadlines What’s on Offer: A competitive salary from £37,000 – £47,000 depending on experience Supportive and collaborative team culture Exposure to leading industry specialists and career development opportunities A firm that actively promotes progression and growth from within
