Planning Manager

VGC Group are proud to be supporting a client, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure contractors, who are playing a pivotal role in the upgrade of the UK's power grid. We are looking for a Planning Manager who can lead the planning function for one of the largest OHL upgrade projects in the UK. This role is pivotal in ensuring the strategic planning and scheduling of the project. This role requires flexibility to work in demanding environments and the ability to spend extended periods away from home in support of project delivery. On offer for you: Salary up to £80k Company vehicle Travel and subsistence allowances Leading benefits package Excellent career development opportunities in a business who are passionate about professional growth What you’ll bring: Proven success in planning and managing complex construction projects Strong leadership and team development skills Expertise in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Time Location software, and MS Office In-depth knowledge of construction management, change control, and risk management (TRA, QSRA) Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills Solid financial awareness, including cost estimation and Earned Value Management The day to day of your role involves: Lead Strategic Planning and Scheduling, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and optimising project timelines and resource allocation. Drive Best Practices, implement and promote best planning practices across the construction portfolio. Guide and support the planning team, focusing on development and successful project delivery. Identify planning scope, constraints, and factors affecting the programme. Ensure adoption of the most efficient design, procurement, and construction strategy for successful delivery of works. Oversee development of key deliverables, including programmes, reports, and presentations. Ensure alignment with commercial and planning procedures and contribute to project success.
