Job Description

A well-known and multiple award-winning Estate is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Wine Tutor to provide exceptional service to guests in their wine tasting area. It is a world-class establishment known for fine-dining, art and exclusive wines, while also caring about sustainability. Candidate Requirements: Grade 12, with additional training in wine. Previous wine tutor/steward experience of at least 1-2 years. Strong knowledge of wines, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. A passion for wine and the hospitality industry as a whole. Own/reliable transportation. Excellent customer service skills. Comfortable dealing with distinguished clientele. Well presented with an enthusiastic personality. Willingness to work flexible hours, and ability to work under pressure. Responsibilities: Setting up the tasting room. Presenting Cellar Tours. Presenting tutored wine tastings. Making sure the presentation, quality and temperature of all drinks are correct. Strict tasting and portion control. Promoting wines and processing the sales. Processing the wine orders through: Capreo, Cape Ardor and Aspiring Logistics. Ensuring there is always enough stock and equipment, doing stock collection, and re-stocking. Must strictly adhere to the provisions and regulations, as contained in the Liquor Act (No. 59 of 2003), as well as other relevant regulations in regards to the sale of alcoholic beverages. Ensure minimum loss through waste, theft, breakage and incorrect orders. Also capturing any losses. Doing daily stock-takes of wine and other beverages, and completing stock movement sheets. Package: Market-related. Plus commission and gratuities. This is a live-out position.
