This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale, using technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. This is an exciting time to join bp and the customers & products BTC Shift : 12:30 PM- 9:30 PM Role Overview : This role sits within bp’s Central Data Office and is part of a growing data governance team supporting the Customers & Products business. As Data Domain Owner for Site Data, you will be responsible for defining and driving data governance across one of bp’s most critical data domains, ensuring our site related data is trusted, well managed and strategically aligned. You will work at the heart of bp’s data transformation, solving complex challenges and collaborating with business, technical and programme teams to embed governance into everything we do. R esponsibilities: Act as the strategic leader for the Site Data Domain, owning its governance and ensuring it supports bp’s business and regulatory needs. Define and implement data standards, policies and controls to ensure site data is accurate, consistent and trusted across the organisation. Lead the definition and continuous improvement of data governance processes for site data, ensuring alignment with bp’s enterprise data strategy and operational workflows. Identify areas of improvement in site data quality, structure and usage — and lead initiatives to resolve them using a data governance framework. Partner with programme and technical teams to shape and deploy scalable data governance solutions for site data, ensuring consistency across markets and systems. Collaborate with business and technical teams to embed governance into data lifecycle processes, including metadata, lineage, and classification. Represent the Site Data Domain in enterprise-wide governance forums and contribute to cross-business and cross-domain initiatives. Support the delivery of bp’s data strategy by ensuring site data is fit for purpose, well-managed, and aligned with strategic goals. Job requirements & qualifications: You will have 12–15 years of professional data experience , with a strong foundation in data governance, data management or enterprise data strategy. While we value deep expertise, we recognise some of the tools and platforms we use — such as Alation, Anomalo & Datasphere are relatively new. Therefore, we’re looking for candidates who bring broad experience and adaptability, rather than expecting long tenure with any specific tool. Strong experience in data governance, data management or enterprise data strategy within complex organisations. Deep understanding of site-related data in the context of energy, retail, or industrial operations — including how it supports business performance and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to lead data initiatives, influence stakeholders and drive change across business and technical teams. Familiarity with data governance frameworks, tools and practices — including metadata management, data quality, and lineage. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate governance principles into business value. Experience working in agile or matrix environments and managing delivery partners. You will work with: Business leadership teams across Customers & Products to find opportunities where improved site data can unlock strategic value. Other Data Domain Owners and Data Governance Specialists to ensure consistency and alignment across domains. Programme leads and business data managers to embed governance into delivery and transformation initiatives. Technical teams responsible for data architecture, platforms and analytics to ensure site data is integrated and accessible. External partners and contractors supporting data programmes.
