Job Description

Overview Are you an experienced chemist looking for a challenging and proactive role? Onyx Scientific have a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Senior GMP Chemist. We are seeking a highly skilled professional who will carry out experimental work in the laboratory to synthesize small quantities of product using standard laboratory equipment and larger quantities in equipment up to 50L/100L scale. There are rewarding opportunities to be involved in organisation and planning for the department and to train and supervise members of the GMP team. You really will be able to have a meaningful impact while adhering to the GMP and safety guidelines set by the company. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work without supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, are essential for working with colleagues. Experience in GMP is not essential as full training will be given, however it would be an advantage. Key Responsibilities Perform full range of kilo scale chemistry to a consistently high standard, with full independence and Guide, direct and supervise GMPC within the labs. Oversee and take full responsibility of 1-2 projects at any given time, monitoring schedules, allocating tasks, and providing transparent, effective communication to managers and other teams, and attending teleconferences as required to give input to the wider teams and clients. Ownership of training GMP Chemists/Technicians in all processing areas. Encouraging junior members to improve areas of their work and to become invested in the company and the commercial direction. Support the team leaders and managers by providing feedback to assist with appraisals and development of team members. Provide expertise on analytical methods used, data interpretation and allocation/review, checking and approving junior members data and assist in interpretation. Key Skills and Qualities A degree in chemistry or a related field Minimum of 2 years prior academic or industrial laboratory experience, including demonstration of core Process / physical skill sets The role requires meticulous attention to detail and accuracy and for all work to be conducted strictly in accordance with company Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training. Excellent lab organisation, including monitoring secondary roles. Superior communication within the department, company and occasionally with clients. Good chemistry knowledge to aid with problem solving within the labs, including projects owned by colleagues. Strong time management for self and peers, including a good understanding of the schedule, commercial direction and departmental goals. Experience of 50L processing.
