Job Details Level : Entry Job Location : Venice - Marina Del Rey, CA Position Type : Part Time Salary Range : $19.00 - $21.00 Hourly Job Summary : The Propagator Restaurant located in Venice Beach is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Line Cook to join our team. We are looking for someone passionate about food, with a “can do” attitude, and enjoys working with people. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities : Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to : Prepare and portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications. Accurately and efficiently cook meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment. Prepare appropriate garnishes for all hot menu items. Complete final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items. Assume 100% responsibility for the quality of food products served. Consistently understand and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food at line stations to ensure smooth service. Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Chef or manager-on-duty. Qualifications : Culinary school graduates are a plus. Must be over 18 years of age or able to show proof of a work permit if under 18. Must obtain a Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire. Must obtain California Responsible Beverage Service certification within 60 days of hire. Must communicate clearly and professionally with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel at all times. Ability to be a strong team player and get along well with co-workers. Physically able to lift, reach, bend, stoop, handle, and cut with a knife, and lift up to 40 pounds regularly. Able to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 9 hours). Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
