Senior Software Java Engineer Our Client seeks a Senior Software Java Engineer to fulfill a 24-month contract position in Barcelona, Spain . This role offers a hybrid work setting with a policy of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote , commencing on either 15th August 2025 or 1st September 2025 . The ideal candidate is fluent in both Spanish and English and possesses a passion for developing high-quality software solutions in the financial industry. The successful candidate will have over 7 years of hands-on experience in architecting and developing robust applications using Java 8/11 (knowledge of Java 17/21 is a plus) and frameworks like Spring Boot . They will also demonstrate proficiency in Apache Spark for data processing and analytics, alongside a mastery of cloud-native technologies and data engineering practices. A strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and streaming platforms like Apache Kafka is essential. Senior Software Java Engineer Start: 15th August 2025 or 1st September 2025 Duration: 24 months Extensions Utilization: 5 days a week Location: Barcelona, Spain (Hybrid policy 3 days in office / 2 days WFH) Languages: Fluent Spanish and English speaking Skills: • Java Expertise: 7 years hands-on experience architecting and developing robust solutions using Java 8/11 (with exposure to Java 17/21 being advantageous), Spring Boot, and microservices. • Proficiency in Apache Spark for distributed data processing and analytics at scale. • Cloud-Native & Data Engineering Mastery: Extensive experience designing and deploying applications on cloud platforms (OpenShift/Azure) using Kubernetes and Docker. • Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Spring Data/Hibernate), streaming platforms (Apache Kafka) and data pipeline optimization for high-throughput systems. • Full-Stack Technical Versatility: Strong back-end development skills complemented by front-end awareness (Angular). Expertise in writing comprehensive unit and integration tests (JUnit, Jasmine/Karma) and implementing software best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
