Job Description

Job Description Job Description Thermal Fluids Engineer Interested in getting in at the ground floor of a new, disruptive company attacking an important multi-billion-dollar problem? Businesses and consumers continue to demand increasing data services at an exponential rate streaming, deep learning, analytics, loT connectivity, and more. What this means is higher performing CPUs, components, servers, and ultimately Data and Edge computing centers, all generating excessive heat that is increasingly difficult to manage with traditional cooling systems. Accelsius is developing revolutionary direct-to-chip, 2-Phase cooling technologies that empower and enable Server OEMs, Data Centers, Edge Computing Operators, and 5G Edge deployments to meet performance, sustainability, scale, and cost goals while serving this high-growth market for data services. We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with deep experience in refrigerant-based fluid handling systems. This role focuses on the design, development, and integration of refrigerant pumps and fluid control systems for industrial or data center cooling applications. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of relevant experience, strong 3D modeling skills, and a solid understanding of system reliability and leak control strategies. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and validate data-center scale direct-to-chip 2-phase cooling systems Specify and integrate refrigerant pumps, including positive displacement, centrifugal, regenerative turbine, or other appropriate technologies Design and implement valving and control systems for refrigerant flow regulation in closed-loop systems Collaborate with electrical and controls teams to define automation and control interfaces Perform system-level thermal and fluid modeling, pressure drop calculations, and component sizing Source, evaluate, and integrate commercial components such as valves, pumps, and fittings Produce detailed 3D CAD models, P&IDs, technical drawings, and documentation to support design reviews and manufacturing Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5 years of experience developing refrigerant-based fluid handling systems, preferably in data center or industrial cooling environments Hands-on experience with valving and control systems used for refrigerant regulation Expertise in 3D mechanical design and modeling Proficiency with SolidWorks preferred; other tools such as Creo, NX, or Autodesk Inventor are acceptable Familiarity with industrial process control systems and process flow in manufacturing and validation environments. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles Familiarity with system safety standards and design for reliability Preferred Qualifications: Experience with two-phase refrigerant systems or direct-to-chip liquid cooling Experience with leak control devices, containment strategies, and system pressure integrity FEA experience for structural, thermal, or flow simulations (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, COMSOL) Knowledge of industrial communication/control protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, PLC integration) Understanding of refrigerant codes and safety standards (ASHRAE, UL, ISO) Experience in pump testing, flow balancing, and system commissioning What We Offer: Competitive salary, benefits, and performance-based bonuses A chance to work on cutting-edge thermal system technologies Collaborative, cross-disciplinary engineering environment The position is based in Austin, Texas.
