Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Emergency Medicine in Kentucky

Job Title: Physician Assistant – Emergency Medicine (Locum Tenens) Location: Ashland, KY Facility Type: High-Volume Emergency Department Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing and successful interview Shifts: 12-hour shifts (Days & Nights) – APPs provide 24/7 coverage Key Highlights: ED Volume: ~60,000 annually Admission Rate: 24–28% APPs work in the main ED (no fast track currently) Dedicated Physician Oversight Available for questions or escalations Scribes available for physicians only Must be comfortable with high volume, high acuity ED Must be willing to work both day and night shifts Clinical Scope & Expectations: Independently manage a broad range of emergency presentations Expected Procedures: Laceration repair , Incision & Drainage (I&D) Intubation, chest tubes, central lines only under direct MD supervision (if desired) Must be comfortable treating critically ill patients Must have at least 2 years of ED experience in a high-acuity setting Clinical Support & Coverage: 48 hrs/day Physician Coverage 36 hrs/day APP Coverage Robust specialty backup: General Surgery, Ortho, CT Surgery, ENT, OB/GYN, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Psych, Dermatology, and more Intensivist and Hospitalist support available No neurosurgery on-site (neuro subspecialty available)
