Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Orthopedic Surgery in Iowa

Job Description: We are actively seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon for a locum tenens assignment at a leading hub hospital in Iowa , serving 16 surrounding counties. This is an excellent opportunity for providers looking to work in a well-supported, collaborative environment offering a mix of clinical and surgical responsibilities, without the burden of telehealth or weekend call. Position Overview: Start Date: July (flexible, based on credentialing) Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Call: Weeknight call only – No weekends Responsibilities: Inpatient post-op rounding, ED/inpatient consults, OR time Telehealth: Not required Facility & Team: Physician Team: 4 orthopedic surgeons by July 2025 locum call coverage Advanced Practice Providers: Support from 1 nurse/provider and 3 cast techs Additional Staff: 3 receptionists and 2 surgery schedulers per 7 providers Exam Space: 2 exam rooms 3 cast rooms per provider Support Services On-site: Medical Imaging, Lab, Pharmacy Practice Snapshot: Patient Volume: ~160 inpatient consults per day (across hospital) Appointment Duration: 10–30 mins (based on visit type) EMR Systems: GE Centricity (clinic) & EPIC (hospital) Population Served: Over 200,000 in 16 counties Teaching Role: Opportunity to work with IM/FM residents and PA students New Grads: Welcomed and encouraged to apply Procedures Performed: Total Hip, Knee, and Shoulder Replacements Surgical Procedures: Hand, Wrist, Knee, Shoulder, Hip, Ankle, and Foot Trauma Injuries, Fracture Care, Sports Medicine, and General Orthopedic Disorders
