The role involves managing and treating patients undergoing bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy. The nurse will administer chemotherapy and manage complications related to blood cancers. A patient ratio of 4:1 is expected for all shifts. This role requires floating within the service line and covering every other weekend. Candidates are expected to pass an EKG examination for telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Nursing experience in a medical/surgical setting for at least one year is mandatory. Oncology experience is not required; training will be provided for oncology and chemotherapy patients. Interdisciplinary support will include physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The facility supports various patient diagnoses including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and complications from blood cancers. This is a fast-paced environment with an average daily census of 30 patients in a 32-bed unit. Candidates should be familiar with electronic charting systems, specifically EPIC. All travelers are required to comply with health and safety regulations. Flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to patient care are essential for success in this role.
