Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse Float Pool Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Evening/Midnight Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One year preferred License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) Certification - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification Must-Have: Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty Description: Assess patient physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data. Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including but not limited to IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. Provide patient and family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and abilities. Provide teaching and evaluate the effectiveness of the instruction. Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for individual preferences, values, and needs. Deliver relationship-based care, striving to understand what is most important to the individual and actively engage them in all aspects of care. Provide care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experiences. Delegate to non-RN personnel according to applicable nursing and hospital policies. Effectively use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. Serve as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. Manage resources and patient flow by aligning nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. Use standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. Seek learning opportunities and continuing education. Pursue experiences reflecting current practice to maintain skills and competence. Maintain professional records providing evidence of competency and lifelong learning. Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional standards and relevant regulations. Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. Demonstrate commitment to the organization through participation in meetings. Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data. Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes and safety. Participate in quality improvement and research activities. Utilize current healthcare research and evidence to enhance clinical knowledge and professional growth.
