RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Environmental / OHS Consultant to join its office in Genoa, Italy, within the Sustainability and Business Innovation Division . Mission The Junior Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Environmental Consultant will support advisory services focused on occupational health and safety and environmental compliance. The role involves assisting international clients in aligning with the environmental and social standards of development banks (e.g., World Bank, EBRD), particularly in infrastructure and energy projects involving project financing. This position is ideal for recent graduates in scientific disciplines eager to grow in a dynamic, international consultancy environment. Key Accountabilities Support OHS Audits in Line with International Standards: Assist in preparing and executing health and safety audits according to IFC Performance Standard 4 and EBRD Performance Requirement 4. Review and monitor workplace safety practices and documentation on client sites. Support Environmental and Social Due Diligences: Contribute to due diligence by gathering data, conducting desk reviews, and supporting risk and non-compliance identification. Assist senior staff in evaluating project alignment with lender requirements (e.g., IFC, EBRD, Equator Principles). Assist in Project Documentation and Compliance Analysis: Help compile health, safety, and environmental documentation. Contribute to gap analyses and compliance matrices against E&S standards. Client Support and Communication: Participate in client meetings, maintain records, and assist in drafting reports and presentations. Field Work and Site Assessments: Support inspections and assessments during field visits, documenting observations and evaluating working conditions and risk controls. Support to Senior Consultants and Project Teams: Work under guidance to contribute to multidisciplinary teams and learn about international ESG frameworks through practical application. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering; a Master’s Degree in related fields is a plus. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene). Master’s Degree or relevant coursework in occupational health and safety or environmental management is advantageous. Familiarity with IFC and EBRD Performance Standards (especially PR4) is beneficial. Basic knowledge of international ESG frameworks in project finance. Initial exposure to occupational health and safety concepts through internships, academic projects, or theses. Interest or background in environmental topics like due diligence, impact assessments, or compliance is preferred. Excellent English communication skills; Italian language skills are a plus. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
