Cybersecurity Subject Matter (SME) Northern, VA area Full-Time | On-site | Position Contingent Upon Award Join Synertex LLC and bring your expertise to a mission that matters. We're looking for a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a background in risk management, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT defense strategies to support critical government and intelligence initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES * Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and vulnerability analyses * Design and implement security frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF, Zero Trust) for enterprise systems * Develop, evaluate, and refine defense-in-depth strategies and incident response plans * Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity regulations * Provide guidance on security architecture and secure system development lifecycle practices * Track emerging threats and propose solutions to reduce cyber risk exposure * Prepare detailed reports and briefings for executive leadership and technical teams REQUIREMENTS * TS/SCI clearance required, including additional security screenings * * Full Performance: High school diploma/GED with 8 years, associate's with 6 years, bachelor's with 4 years, or master's with 2 years of relevant experience * Senior Level: High school diploma/GED with 10 years, associate's with 8 years, bachelor's with 6 years, master's with 4 years, or PhD with 2 years * Expert/Master Level: High school diploma/GED with 12 years, associate's with 10 years, bachelor's with 8 years, master's with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years * Strong background in cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and compliance * Experience with security assessment tools and practices (e.g., Nessus, Splunk, SCAP, STIGs) * Knowledge of federal cybersecurity policies and standards (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53) * Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills * Experience supporting cybersecurity for intelligence or defense systems * Familiarity with cloud security, Zero Trust architecture, and endpoint protection solutions * Background in incident response, penetration testing, or threat intelligence * Experience implementing RMF within classified environments Join a mission-driven team advancing government communication capabilities and operational readiness.
