About the Role As an Embedded Software Engineer at Chelsea Technologies, youll play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering embedded software solutions across a range of product lines. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing your expertise to help fuse software with hardware to create truly impactful systems. This role offers a balance of independent project ownership and collaborative engineering, with opportunities to mentor others and bring innovation to the forefront of our product development. ?? Key Responsibilities Develop embedded software for Chelseas products both independently and within cross-functional teams. Deploy and debug Linux-based or real-time embedded operating systems. Work with a wide range of communication protocols and hardware peripherals. Read schematics, troubleshoot PCB issues, and conduct hardware-in-the-loop testing. Drive software efficiency through modular code and reuse across projects. Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to contribute to architecture and design discussions. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Support internal teams and customers with technical guidance. Stay current on emerging technologies in embedded software development. ?? What Were Looking For Essential Skills & Experience Proficient in C/C++ (object-oriented) for embedded Linux or microcontroller platforms. Strong hands-on experience with RTOS and bare-metal microcontroller development (e.g., STM32, PIC). Solid understanding of embedded build systems , cross-compilation , and tools like Docker. Experience with source control (e.g., Git) , unit testing, and peer code reviews. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent team collaboration and communication. Desirable Skills Experience with digital electronics, schematic reading, and PCB debugging. Knowledge of structured software development practices and documentation. Exposure to Agile development environments. ?? Qualifications A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Maths, or related discipline. OR 5 years of proven embedded software engineering experience in a professional setting. ?? Additional Information Some travel may be required.
