Job Description
SMS group is looking for a Product Manager for Roll Grinding Workshops . Main Responsibilities : Responsible for leading and executing the entire integrative product management (Strategic, Technical, Operational) for Roll Grinding Workshops, aiming for global standardization and continuous improvement as an entrepreneur within the company. Primary contact for new plant business, automation, digital solutions, and service related to integrative product management. Development and standardization of innovative product and business models, including communication and pricing strategies, to offer customers integrated solutions for performance enhancement—from design and procurement to setup, ramp-up, and long-term operational management. Proactive preparation, execution, and follow-up of integrated product workshops involving stakeholders from operations, automation, digitalization, and new plant business for standardization and continuous improvement. Support of sales and execution teams in ongoing projects and operations worldwide. Conducting market analyses and identifying new business opportunities. Monitoring performance indicators (sales, execution, operational management) across all workshop locations globally, and adjusting strategies as needed within the continuous improvement framework. Creating business plans and strategy documents for management decision-making. Qualifications : Degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering (with focuses such as strategy, production/manufacturing planning), or economics/business administration with a strong technical/operational background (e.g., workshop operations) in the metal industry. Extensive experience in planning and/or executing hot/cold rolling mills, especially roll workshops. At least 5 years of experience with rolling processes, roll technology, and roll refurbishment, including roller bearings. Active experience and knowledge in roll workshop operations; knowledge of logistics solutions is an advantage. Professional leadership experience. Experience in creating and implementing business models. Strong analytical, strategic, and technical skills, with excellent communication abilities to present complex issues clearly. Experience in Lean Management is a plus. Personal Competencies A proactive, independent personality willing to go beyond benchmarks. High social competence to maintain and develop relationships internally and externally. Excellent team player with motivational skills, capable of working effectively across various leadership levels. Proven experience in training, coaching, and supporting teams and clients.
