RUBY ON RAILS DEVELOPER 3-6 months £400-£500 PER DAY REMOTE (UK-BASED) We're partnering with an innovative technology firm on a high-impact contract role for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer. This project focuses on building automation tools that help streamline and modernise regulatory processes in the US retirement sector. If you enjoy solving nuanced technical challenges with elegant engineering and working with large-scale, rule-driven systems, this is for you. THE CLIENT Our client is a mission-driven SaaS company developing intelligent systems that support compliance in the retirement benefits space. Their engineering team is highly collaborative and driven by real-world problem-solving. You'll be contributing to a platform used by major plan administrators, directly affecting how compliance risk is managed at scale. THE ROLE You'll be working within a product team responsible for a critical engine that runs large-scale compliance checks on dynamic datasets. The system ingests user data and performs complex rule evaluations, helping users get real-time visibility into compliance outcomes. Your role will be hands-on, focused on back-end development using Ruby on Rails, with opportunities to work across the stack. Key responsibilities: Writing scalable, production-ready Ruby code within a mature codebase Designing and optimising relational data models and SQL queries for performance Building background jobs and distributed systems to handle high data volumes Translating fuzzy business logic into clearly defined technical solutions Participating in team discussions, pair programming, and peer code reviews SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Expert-level Ruby on Rails experience Advanced SQL knowledge and data modelling skills Comfortable with front-end technologies like React and GraphQL Experience working on complex, interdependent systems Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) is a plus, but not required HOW TO APPLY Please register your interest by sending your CV via the apply link or
