Our client is a leader in commercial property insurance, dedicated to providing exceptional service. Their Guildford office is a hub of passionate and professional people. This is a dynamic and rewarding position where you'll be instrumental in your team's success. You'll report to the Head of Real Estate Underwriting, acting as the team's primary guide and point of contact. Your day will be a mix of hands-on management, problem-solving, and strategic planning. Your responsibilities Lead and develop: Manage a team of five underwriters, providing regular one-to-one meetings, appraisals, and coaching to help them grow and succeed. Solve complex problems: Act as the main escalation point for the team, helping them to resolve complex referrals and issues efficiently and effectively. Ensure excellence: Oversee team workloads, ensuring tasks are allocated fairly and that quality and service standards are consistently met. Drive improvement: You'll be responsible for MI reporting and presenting your findings to internal stakeholders. You'll use these insights to contribute to the continuous improvement of the business and help enhance the technical capabilities of the team. Champion compliance: Uphold and champion our compliance standards and internal regulations. You must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of emotional intelligence, and meticulous attention to detail. You should be a proactive problem-solver, capable of managing competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and data-driven skills are essential, including advanced Excel proficiency. Insurance knowledge (desirable): Previous experience in the insurance industry is a plus, but not a requirement. Having or working toward a Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualification (Cert CII, Dip CII, or ACII) would also be an advantage.
