Advocacy, Advice and Guidance Practitioner Location: Peckham and other locations across London Salary: £30,000 pro rata Vacancy Type: Fixed Term Contract until August 2026 Hours: 30 hours per week with some evening/weekend work The organisation works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places where they live. The Role Are you passionate about empowering fathers to advocate for themselves, build stronger family connections and improve their support pathways? The Nest is looking for an Advocacy, Advice and Guidance Practitioner to support young fathers to become more confident parents, improve family functioning and reduce parental conflict. Their mental wellbeing support service is for young people aged 0 – 25 living in the London Borough of Southwark. Since launching as a remote service in May of 2020, The Nest has gone from strength to strength and, as they enter their fourth year of delivery, they will be delivering an additional service funded by the VRU to improve outcomes for fathers based in Southwark, Lambeth and Tower Hamlets. Main Objectives: Advocate for fathers to support them in building and maintaining strong family relationships. Create and deliver workshops and training sessions tailored to service users' needs to improve their access to support services and help them gain a better understanding of how to improve family functioning and reduce parental conflict. Work closely with the Program Manager, Therapeutic Practitioner and other team members to deliver wrap-around support to fathers Provide regular updates and data on engagement and impact of the service using feedback mechanism and written reports Key Responsibilities Support and empower fathers to advocate for themselves and their families Delivery ongoing co-production activities, e.g. workshops, questionnaires, etc., to ensure young people's voices are at the heart of service delivery. Work flexibly on evenings and weekends to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme. Develop and maintain a thorough ‘local knowledge' of the borough and its services and facilities, particularly in relation to mental health, employment and education issues. Build and maintain excellent relationships and communication with stakeholders and partners/services such as Probation Services, Youth Offending, and Forensic and Community Family Services. Collect feedback from service users to provide real-time information on service performance that will be used to inform, and where necessary, improve service delivery. Collect data using surveys, reports and case studies for monitoring and evaluation purposes and to lead self-improvement and action planning as needed. Ensure adherence across the team to the organisation's policies and procedures including confidentiality, safeguarding and the management and sharing of data under the GDPR regulations and of the Data Protection Act 2018. Skills and Qualifications Demonstrable experience working 1:1 and in group settings with fathers or parents Experience working in advocacy role, or advocating for fathers Experience delivering psychoeducational groups around mental health and wellbeing Working knowledge of Safeguarding, the ability to follow procedures, and develop and work within a culture of safe practice Ability to follow Policies and Procedures in relation to Data Protection and Security, and Protection of Personal and Sensitive Personal Data Ability to plan and manage a complex work programme, prioritise tasks and deliver results on time Ability to use MS Corporate Software applications, particularly MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook Email Ability to keep accurate records including service user development logs and use recorded data for evaluation and monitoring Willingness to be flexible in work patterns and to fulfil regular evening and weekend duties Commitment to the organisation's Equity, Diversity and inclusion in practice in the workplace and across communities To Apply If you feel you are a suitable candidate and would like to work for this reputable organisation, please do not hesitate to apply.
