Job Description
Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an RF Systems Engineer to join the Data Link Systems team. This team is responsible for designing secure communication systems that support missile operations throughout their mission. The role will support the Sea Venom programme, a UK/French-developed helicopter-launched anti-corvette weapon system deployed on the Wildcat and Guepard platforms. Key Responsibilities : As the technical lead for Sea Venom data link activities, I was responsible for the end-to-end delivery, integration, and support of secure RF communication systems across missile and platform terminals. My role encompassed production oversight, issue resolution, configuration management, and strategic input into new business and cross-programme initiatives. Served as the primary technical lead for all data link activities on the Sea Venom programme, overseeing secure two-way RF communications with up to four in-flight missiles. Managed the integration and delivery of missile and platform terminals, including active antenna systems with full azimuth beam-pointing capability. Supported the production and delivery of the Sea Venom data link to the UK customer, with manufacturing continuing through 2026 and export opportunities under evaluation. Led the resolution of manufacturing issues related to data link components, ensuring timely and compliant corrective actions. Provided technical support to integration teams, addressing system-level queries and ensuring alignment across platforms. Contributed to new business development through technical studies, modelling, and bid support for future Sea Venom opportunities. Maintained design configuration control, managing problem reports and engineering change notes to ensure traceability and compliance. Ensured alignment with obsolescence redesigns across transverse products, supporting long-term system sustainability. Oversaw work package management for Sea Venom data link activities, delivering against defined scope and milestones. Provided cross-programme support to the CAMM Family Data Link Systems Team, flexing capacity based on Sea Venom workload. What Do You Need? : Delivered RF systems engineering expertise across complex defence platforms, ensuring robust and secure communications architecture. Effectively managed internal and external stakeholders, facilitating alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and customer domains. Led weapon system integration and certification activities, ensuring compliance with defence standards and operational readiness. Applied a strong understanding of manufacturing processes to support design-for-manufacture and production efficiency. What happens now?
