For ABB E-Mobility Technology Center located in San Giovanni Valdarno, we are looking for a Firmware Developer for our R&D organization. The role involves designing and developing control software for power converters connected to medium/low voltage grids for electric vehicle charging applications. You will face interesting technical challenges, building converters in the range of 10KW-1000KW using modern topologies and integrating them with the Charger Operating System. Your workflow will be part of the ABB gate model development process, working in an Agile manner with the entire product development team. Your responsibilities Participate in defining next-generation electric vehicle chargers. Design and develop embedded software in MCUs and application processors for system management, communication, or power converters. Support hardware and testing engineers during power module development. Your background A master’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Informatics, or Computer Science. Strong knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development, and industrial communication protocols. Knowledge of ISO 15118-20 and OCPP standards is a plus. Proficiency in C / C++ and Python; familiarity with Linux is advantageous. Knowledge of FreeRTOS is a plus. At least 3-5 years of experience in product design and production as a firmware engineer, preferably for power electronics applications. Proficient with software development tools (Git, collaboration environments, compilers, debugging tools). Ability to use standard laboratory equipment. Excellent verbal communication skills in English; Italian language skills are preferred.
