Staff Engineer

The Staff Engineer at the International Code Council (ICC) is integral to supporting the mission to develop and promote standards and codes for safe, sustainable, and affordable structures. This role involves applying engineering principles and practices to a variety of projects in the construction industry, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international codes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design excellence, innovation in construction technology, and a commitment to improving building safety. Develop, analyze, and review building plans and designs for compliance with current building codes and standards. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure architectural designs are safe, sustainable, and feasible. Conduct site inspections and structural assessments to identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions. Provide technical guidance and support to the Construction Department on matters related to structural integrity, materials compliance, and sustainable practices. Prepare and present reports detailing analyses, inspections, and recommendations to stakeholders. Stay abreast of advancements and changes in the construction industry and amend practices and codes accordingly. Participate in the development and revision of internal and international building codes and standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other structural design software. Strong understanding of building codes and compliance requirements (local, national, and international). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Capability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
