Junior Security Engineer

A leading technology services company with a national presence offers an exciting opportunity to join a team known for innovation and exceptional customer service. We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Junior Security Engineer. This role includes security monitoring, incident detection, and troubleshooting for both internal systems and clients. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, and is eager to grow within a dynamic SOC environment. : Monitor SIEM platforms for suspicious activity and threats. Analyse logs from security tools to detect incidents. Assist in investigating and escalating security alerts. Support incident response, including containment and recovery. Work with senior staff on malware, phishing, and access issues. Help manage firewalls, endpoint policies, and vulnerabilities. Stay informed on emerging threats and threat intelligence. Support compliance efforts (e.g., ISO 27001). Document incidents and maintain SOPs. Provide security support to internal and external users. Assist in tuning and configuring security tools. Collaborate with SOC, network, and IT teams. : CompTIA Security (Highly Recommended) Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals Certified SOC Analyst (CSA) EC-Council Fortinet NSE 1, 2 & 3 Cisco CyberOps Associate Fundamentals, CSA, Fortinet NSE 13, Cisco CyberOps). 23 years' experience in IT security, SOC operations, or IT support with a security focus. Familiarity with SIEM tools, log analysis, and security monitoring. Basic knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and cloud security (Azure, AWS, Microsoft Defender).
