Ict Infrastructure Engineer (Windows)

APPLICATION CLOSING DATE : September 13th 2025 The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is an interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, aiming to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and healthy aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational biology, structural biology, neuroscience, and health data science. HT scientists work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment to promote life science research nationally and internationally. In line with its mission to serve the research community at large, HT operates National Facilities, specifically aimed at making HT’s technologies, methods, and tools available to the national scientific community. The Human Technopole Foundation is seeking an ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Windows) to work within the Data Centre Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and security of Windows-based systems within the institute's ICT infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical Windows environments, supporting research, administration, and enterprise operations. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, automate processes, and enhance system resilience, reporting to the Core Services Manager. Main Tasks and Responsibilities : Manage, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments to ensure high availability and performance; Implement system hardening and security best practices in collaboration with Cybersecurity and Digital Services teams; Monitor system health, performance, and capacity to prevent service degradation; Ensure compliance with ICT governance policies, security frameworks, and industry standards; Apply best practices for Windows Server roles (DNS, DHCP, File Services, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, etc.); Administer and optimize Active Directory (AD), Azure AD (Entra ID), Group Policies (GPOs), and IAM solutions; Implement and manage SSO, MFA, and RBAC to enhance security; Automate user provisioning and deprovisioning for efficiency and compliance; Manage Windows patch strategies to ensure security and minimize vulnerabilities; Implement and maintain endpoint security solutions and audit policies in collaboration with Cybersecurity; Conduct security assessments and compliance checks to meet regulatory requirements; Diagnose and resolve complex Windows system and infrastructure issues; Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring incidents; Collaborate with ICT teams to troubleshoot infrastructure incidents; Maintain documentation for Windows configurations and procedures; Identify and implement improvements for system performance, security, and reliability; Share knowledge within the ICT team to promote best practices. Requirements Mandatory requirements : Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field; At least 3 years of experience in Windows system administration or IT infrastructure management; Deep expertise in Windows Server (2016 / 2019 / 2022) administration; Strong knowledge of Active Directory, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and Windows authentication; Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation; Understanding of networking, firewalls, and security best practices; Good English communication skills, both written and spoken. Preferred requirements : Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; Azure Administrator Associate certification; Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification; ITIL certification; Previous experience in a similar role at a research institute.
