Our client, a luxury automobile manufacturer known for producing premium vehicles, including cars, trucks, and vans, is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist to join their team. Job Title: Senior Safety Specialist Location: Ann Arbor, MI Summary of the Position: The Senior Safety Specialist plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced safety programs across the organization. Reporting to the Head of Workplace Services, this role serves as the primary SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) specialist for multiple R&D facilities and supports the broader Workplace Services team, including the Experienced Safety Specialist. The position involves working in various environments such as offices, research laboratories, and automotive garages, with approximately 20% travel expected. Key Responsibilities: Lead risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate safety risks. Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other standards. Design and deliver safety training programs for different organizational levels. Investigate safety incidents, perform root cause analyses, and develop corrective actions. Conduct safety audits and inspections to evaluate protocols and practices. Develop strategic safety initiatives to improve performance and foster a proactive safety culture. Utilize data analytics to identify trends and support decision-making. Communicate safety policies effectively to employees and management. Report safety and hazardous materials data to regulators and MBAG. Maintain and update emergency response plans and site procedures. Provide technical SHE support for projects and initiatives. Handle additional safety and environmental compliance duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering. Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial operations with SHE involvement. Deep knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, IIPP, SPCC, etc.). Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Leadership and mentoring abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software. Ability to prioritize tasks in unstructured environments. Willingness to work in both office and field settings and respond to emergencies. Physical ability to lift small parcels, walk short distances, and operate a vehicle. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced certifications such as CSP or CIH. Experience with management systems like VPP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, or ISO 45001.
