Sustainability Strategist Specialist

REQUIREMENTS Affirmative Action South African citizen National Diploma/ B.Sc/ B.Tech in Environmental Management/ Sciences, Sustainability Management, Engineering 5 -10 years of experience in the manufacturing industry Minimum 3 years’ experience in sustainability management/ environmental sustainability/ leadership role in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record ESSENTIAL SKILLS Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) Proven track record in communication across various levels in the organization Ability to initiate, build and maintain relationships with government stakeholders, particularly at the regional and municipal levels, as well as the Department of Trade and Industry Proven analytical skills with an innovative approach to problem-solving Knowledge of ISO 14001 Experience with ESG reporting Experience in scoping large-scale sustainability projects, including funding solutions Influence on national and regional policies and legislation ADDED ADVANTAGE Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation Experience in water and effluent treatment technologies Post-graduate qualification in Business Management/ Business Administration RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, establish and drive the implementation of innovative strategies that minimise the group‘s ecological footprint, enhance the sustainability of the supply chain, and promote the adoption of eco-friendly technologies Position the group as a leader in sustainable mobility, ensuring that our operations not only meet regulatory requirements but also exceed the expectations of our customers and stakeholders for a cleaner, greener future Create a comprehensive framework for the full and effective implementation of a sustainability management system for the group and its subsidiaries Strengthen the group’s sustainability performance by collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed sustainability principles into product development, manufacturing processes, corporate policies, and long-term plant development strategies Implement the group’s sustainability strategy Foster a strong culture of sustainability across the organization by driving continuous improvement and building accountability at all levels, as well as active engagement with communities and partners Drive continuous improvement and strengthen business sustainability by generating revenue from production waste streams Strengthen the group’s financial position by proactively identifying and leveraging government incentive schemes for which the company qualifies Drive continuous sustainability improvement by strengthening the organization’s sustainability performance through accurate and comprehensive non-financial reporting Protect and strengthen the company's reputation by proactively addressing potential trust issues among internal and external stakeholders Protect the organization from legal, trust, and reputational risks by ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements Enhance the quality and accuracy of sustainability reporting by supporting statistical analysis and data management processes Enhance awareness and achieve a positive mindset shift towards sustainability within the organization
